City of Ankeny recently issued the following announcement.

On Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 at roughly 3:30 p.m., an Ankeny Police officer was sent to 1343 SW Prairie Trail Pkwy #103 on a report a window had been shot out earlier in the day.  Video from this complex was reviewed and it was determined a single shot had been fired roughly 2 ½ hrs. earlier.  This bullet entered an apartment and became lodged in a window frame.

A suspect was identified and came to the Ankeny Police department this evening after being called by officers.  After speaking with detectives, Jared B. Henderson (19) admitted to shooting at a rabbit near his apartment building and was charged with Reckless use of a Firearm causing property damage and Discharging a Firearm in a Reckless Manner.  Henderson was processed at the Ankeny Police Department and released on citation.  There is no danger to the public.
