In an attempt to lessen the spread of COVID-19, Polk County facilities remain closed to the public.
The county will continue to evaluate the timing of reopening based on data and recommendations from the Polk County Health Department.
“To help protect the health and safety of our employees and the general public, as one of the most important ways to contain the spread of COVID-19 is to limit contact with others and time spent in public places,” a Polk County release states on their website.
Following guidelines, the county continues to suggest safety precautions such as staying home and limiting trips out, avoiding crowded areas, practicing social distancing of six feet or more, wearing cloth face masks when in public at all times, washing hands often and staying home when sick.
“Though the Polk County Administrative Building continues to be closed to the public, staff are in the building processing online, mailed and dropbox payments, as well as answering phone calls,” the release said.
Updated proclamation information regarding regulatory relief for certain processes regarding property tax collection, vehicle registration and vehicle title transfers are offered by Polk Treasurer Mary Maloney on the Polk County website.
Tax sale buyer certificates for reimbursement, tax sale redemption payments and abstract company payments may be deposited in the South lot dropbox. Vehicle and property tax transactions can be done on the payment website, by mail, by using the South lot dropbox or by phone.
As Polk County facilities reopened, services will be provided by appointment only.
