Republican John Landon has been reelected to represent House District 37, defeating Andrea Philips.

Landon wrote about his victory on Facebook:

“Thanks to all of you for your support and taking time to vote! HD 37 was the #1 target with over $1.2M dark money spent on lies to flip the IA House. The world now knows that HD37 can’t be bought! It’s an honor to serve,” he said.

Landon assumed office on January 14, 2013 and his current term ends on January 10, 2021.

His rival, democrat, Philips thanked her supporters despite the loss, promising to get back to work immediately.

“While we didn’t get the result we were hoping for tonight, I’m humbled and honored by those who voted for me and incredibly thankful to our volunteers and donors… We didn’t win today, but I’m going to dust myself off and get right back to work for the causes I believe in. I hope you will join me,” she wrote on Facebook.
