Des Moines Area Community College employee Robert Mulqueen donates $1,030 to Bernard Sanders' campaign

Robert Mulqueen, an employee at Des Moines Area Community College, donated $1,030 to Democratic Party candidate Bernard Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $2,608 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with Des Moines Area Community College as of November 3. Approximately 85.6 percent, or $2,233, of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Robert Mulqueen's contribution was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with Des Moines Area Community College since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
