Pricing for the median home in Des Moines increased during 2020

The median sale price of a home sold in 2020 in Des Moines rose by $12,700 while total sales increased by 6.8%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2020, there were 4,768 homes sold, with a median sale price of $149,700 - a 9.3% increase over the $137,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 4,466 homes sold in Des Moines in 2019.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.7% of the median home sale price for 2020.
