Dordt University issued the following announcement on July 21.

Bethany Vasecka, a student at UW-River Falls (Wisconsin), has announced her intention to attend Dordt University and join the basketball and track programs.

“We are excited to welcome Bethany to Dordt and our women’s basketball program.  Bethany is a tough competitor and a great athlete that will impact the game on both ends of the floor.  Bethany’s faith is very important to her and we’re excited to watch her grow and excel at Dordt,” said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.

Vasecka is a 5-10 guard/forward who averaged eight points per game for the Falcons last season while appearing in all eight games for UW-River Falls in an abbreviated season. She also took in 4.6 rebounds per game with 1.2 steals.  Vasecka graduated from New Prague High School (Minnesota) in 2020 and averaged eight points per game while earning all-conference honors.

“When I visited I really liked how genuine everyone was.  I also loved the Christian aspect and how easily everyone talks  about God here,” said Vasecka.

Bethany is the daughter of Chris and Stacey Vasecka and she plans to study Exercise Science at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
