Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement.
Tree and Branch Recycling
Date: 10/02/2021 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

City of Ankeny Tree and Branch Recycling will be held at the City Maintenance Facility located at 211 SE Lorenz Dr. The City Maintenance Facility is located across the street from the entrance into Des Moines Area Community College on South Ankeny Blvd. Participation is restricted to Ankeny residents living within the corporate city limits. There is no fee, however participants will be asked for proof of residency.
Trees and branches must have a trunk size no larger than 8" in diameter. Larger sizes will not be accepted because of their inability to be recycled through the chipper. Branches less than one (1) inch in diameter, twigs, tree roots, stumps and other yard waste will not be accepted because they will clog and jam the chipping machine. Residents are asked to have the cut end of their branches stacked at the end of their vehicles for easy removal.
Residents should insure that their vehicle or trailer is clear of items before loading with branches. Items such as ropes, chains, and fence posts have been pulled into the chipper by branches causing damage to equipment and injury to City staff.
Commercial vehicles and trucks larger than a pickup are prohibited from participating in this recycling program.
