Grand View University recently issued the following announcement.
The Grand View men's basketball team was back as they were playing the host school versus the Baptist Bible College Patriots. The Vikings fell in overtime 88-83.
Game Recap
The Vikings found themselves up mid-way through the first half 27-19 but a couple of breakdowns in the Viking defense allowed the Patriots to make a run and get back into the game. The Vikings went into the half down two, 39-37. In the second half the Vikings could not get over the hump as they were unable to put together enough stops and scores to go on a run. The Vikings were unsuccessful in converting free throw opportunities as they were 16/26 from the line while the Patriots converted 31/39 from the line. Both teams shot 7/25 from the three-point line and both were around 40% overall. Both teams turned it over thirteen times. The Patriots outrebounded the Vikings, 45 to 41, while each team grabbed 12 offensive rebounds.
Stats
All five Vikings who started finished in double figures. Drew Johnson (SR/Clive, Iowa) finished with 20-points and 4-rebounds. Dallas Bailey (SR/Denver, Colorado) finished with 16-points and 11-rebounds. Brady Sartorius (SR/Mount Pleasant, Iowa) also finished with 16-points, 7-rebounds, and 5-assists. Ryan Miller (SR/Walker, Iowa) finished with 12-points, 7-rebounds, and 4-assists. Isaiah Johnson (SO/Waterloo, Iowa), the final Viking starter, finished with 10-points. Miller and Bailey both fouled out in the game.
Up next the Vikings will go to NCAA Division II Central Missouri on Tuesday, November 16th for a 1:00 pm tip. This will be the first game for the Mules as they host the Vikings who are now 4-2.
