Pricing for the median home in Des Moines increased during 2021

The median sale price of a home sold in 2021 in Des Moines rose by $15,100 while total sales increased by 8.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2021, there were 5,195 homes sold, with a median sale price of $165,000 - a 10.1% increase over the $149,900 median sale price for the previous year. There were 4,771 homes sold in Des Moines in 2020.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.5% of the median home sale price for 2021.
