789

City of Johnston recently issued the following announcement.

Each February, Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, is a national celebration honoring the achievements and contributions of African Americans to the country. Past, present and future, the African American community is vital to Johnston's story.

On Tuesday, Feb. 8, Mayor Paula Dierenfeld signed a proclamation declaring February Black History Month. This year's theme is Black Health and Wellness. The theme was chosen to celebrate the contributions and breakthroughs of Black medical professionals and workers, and to recognize the cultural richness of non-traditional health and wellness practitioners in the Black community.
