Johnston Academic Decathalon placed 2nd at the state meet in Mason City on March 4 and 5, amassing a total of 31,393 points and earning 14 individual medals.
Johnston’s team also qualified for the online nationals, which will take place at the end of April. Last year’s team placed 6th in the nation. Coach Sue Cline said she anticipates a challenging but enjoyable end to the competition season again this year.
