City of Ankeny Pedestrian Bridge and Gateway of Trails Ribbon Cutting and Dedication

The City of Ankeny invites the community to a ribbon cutting and dedication for the new Ankeny Pedestrian Bridge and Gateway of Trails Thursday, July 21 at 5:30 p.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the south side of the new pedestrian bridge at 601 SE Oralabor Road. After the ceremony, Mayor Mark Holm will lead a bike ride across the new bridge along the new trail to AMP for a celebration at Beats and Eats. Join us on your bike to take part in the ride to the celebration.

The City of Ankeny recently completed the extension of the High Trestle Trail from Magazine Road to Oralabor Road and the construction of a pedestrian bridge over Oralabor Road. This bridge connects the High Trestle Trail to the Oralabor Gateway and the Gay Lea Wilson trails providing access to hundreds of miles of regional trails.

Parking is available at:

  • Ankeny Fire Station No. 2, 665 SE Oralabor Road
  • Kinzler Construction Services, 700 SE Oralabor Road
If participating in the bike ride, consider parking your vehicle at one of these locations and riding your bike to the event:

  • AMP, 715 W First Street
  • Carney Marsh Nature Preserve, 580 SE 54th Street

AMP serves as a trailhead along the High Trestle Trail in the heart of Ankeny and is the home to Beats and Eats; a new community event featuring food trucks, beer bus, live music, yard games, kids’ activities and more. For more information about Beats and Eats visit www.ankenyiowa.gov/eats.
