First half of 2022: Des Moines experienced a 7.5% increase in median home prices

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2022 in Des Moines rose by $12,000 while total sales decreased by 1.8 percent, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June, there were 2,406 homes sold, with a median sale price of $171,250 - a 7.5 percent increase over the $159,250 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 2,450 homes sold in Des Moines in the first half of 2021.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.5 percent of the median home sale price for the first half of 2022.
