The north leg of the West First Street and SW Cherry Street / NW Ash Drive intersection is closed to all traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, as of Monday, Sept. 12, weather permitting. During September, the remaining underground utility work and pavement widening of West First Street from just west of the City Hall driveway / SW Walnut Street through the First and Cherry/Ash intersection will be performed. A signed detour route is posted. It is anticipated that the closure of the north leg of the First and Ash intersection will last approximately four weeks, weather permitting.
The High Trestle Trail HAWK signal crossing at West First Street has reopened.
A reminder that schoolchildren are to solely utilize the west leg of the West First Street and NW/SW School Street intersection for all crossings of West First Street until the project’s construction is fully complete, and the new traffic signal at First and Cherry/Ash is fully operational.
