JOHNSTON, Ia. (Feb. 18, 2023) — Johnston High School senior Jacob Helgeson won the Class 3A state wrestling championship in the 152 lbs weight class Saturday night.
Congratulations to our Johnston Wrestling team for taking home a total of five medals by placing in the top eight at the 2023 IHSAA state wrestling championships!
Braden Blackorby (145) took 2nd place
Sam Zindel (182) took 4th place
Kaia Fox (170) took 5th place
Jashua Anglo (126) took 7th place
JHS junior Margi Skinner was also selected to perform the National Anthem at the beginning of the semifinals Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
