On Friday, Feb. 7, Johnston High School standouts, including Ava Smithson, competed in an NCAA Division I softball game for Northern Iowa Panthers

On Friday, Feb. 7, three former Johnston High School standouts, including Ava Smithson, Ella Smithson and Paige Peterson’s current college team, the Northern Iowa Panthers, won 1-0 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.

The game took place at UNI-Dome. This was their first matchup against the Fighting Hawks this season.

The Panthers’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at UNI-Dome against Loyola Ramblers.
