On Sunday, March 16, Johnston High School standouts, including Ava Smithson, competed in an NCAA Division I softball game for Northern Iowa Panthers

On Sunday, March 16, three former Johnston High School standouts, including Ava Smithson, Ella Smithson and Paige Peterson’s current college team, the Northern Iowa Panthers, won 12-9 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the Evansville Purple Aces.

The game took place at Tri-State Orthopaedics Field at James & Dorothy Cooper Stadium. This was their third matchup against the Purple Aces this season.

The Panthers’ next game is scheduled for Friday, March 21 at 5 p.m. at Flames Field against UIC Flames.
